HANDWASHING is the simplest way to ward off common infectious diseases.
This is the message by the Kuantan Medical Centre (KMC) at its one-day exhibition to raise awareness on the importance of hand hygiene.
Last Friday, residents from nearby housing areas in Kuantan flocked to the exhibition, where they could learn simple methods to maintain hand hygiene.
KMC front office senior executive Nor Anizam Mohamed said the response was encouraging as this would help achieve the campaign’s objective.
“People need to realise that most diseases can be avoided by washing hands constantly,” she said at the event held at the hospital lobby.
Nor Anizam said communicable diseases could spread if people did not wash their hands before handling food.
Visitors received free health screening conducted by hospital personnel. KMC nurses also demonstrated effective handwashing techniques.
