KUALA LUMPUR, 10 March 2020 – Taman Desa Medical Centre (TDMC), one of KMI Healthcare (Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd) chain of hospitals that confirmed one case of patient with COVID-19 on 5 March 2020 has resumed full operations since 9 March 2020.
TDMC recently tested 43 of its Health Care Workers (HCW) for COVID-19 and the test came back negative for all. However, for further safeguard six of the health care workers have been in home quarantine. The nasopharyngeal tests were done on every primary and secondary contacts that has been in close interactions with the patient infected with the disease. Nevertheless, as precautionary measure a second test will be conducted soon.
The patient who was admitted to TDMC on 25 February 2020 was reported as positive on 4 March 2020. Immediately, the hospital closed all infected ward rooms and all HCW who have been in contact with the patient have been identified for screening. On 6 March 2020, a disinfection and decontamination process were done successfully at all patient areas.
The nature of their job puts health care workers at an increased risk of catching any communicable disease, including COVID-19. KMI Healthcare has taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, patients and community that we serve.
